Belly Breathe by Sesame Street

What do you do when you are feeling overwhelmed or getting angry, or are about to attempt something you will regret? That?s right: you pause and take a couple of deep breaths in and out, and give yourself a chance to calm down.

Not only is it good for you to remember to take a breath, it is also a great idea to teach your kids to do the same when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions.

Recently I attended a workshop by Babette Rothschild, a well-known somatic trauma therapist, who introduced us to this catchy song “Belly Breathe” by the Sesame Street gang. So when you feel that little monster inside you becoming angry and mad, this way you can help your monster to chill. So thank you Sesame Street!
